Three machines, which possibly require three machine operators. The material must be moved back and forth between the machines. A lot of manual work, which is subject to errors. After two hundred holes, the worker slowly gets tired. The work is time consuming.

Sawing and machining in a single clamping

Machines, such as the SBZ 150, can saw and machine profiles in one clamping. The SBZ 150 is a 5-axis rod profile processing centre for rational processing of aluminium and steel profiles. All work processes, such as milling, drilling, thread cutting, thread milling, latching and sawing are carried out on a static profile rod – this protects the profile rod surfaces. With the optional angle head machining from below is also possible, so that profiles can be machined from all 6 sides in one clamping.

The travelling tool magazine ensures short tool change times and thus optimum processing cycles. Robust and low-wear direct drives in all axes enable fast positioning of the machining unit. Two separated work zones allow processing in shuttle operation.

Practical tips from an expert

Modern profile machining centres can do a lot if they are correctly controlled and operated.

The eluCad group training is held regularly with a maximum of 10 participants at elusoft headquarters in Dettenhausen, Germany. Using a projector, the training director can project the screen view of his laptop, as well as those of the individual participants, to a large screen. This provides intensive and effective training. Instead of dry lectures, the elusoft-training director shares his knowledge in subject related applications, from which the participants can profit in their daily work.
